A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is assigned to each candidate, depending on a number of factors, including age, level of education, language proficiency, work experience, etc.

Comprehensive Ranking System is a vital part of the Express Entry, the points-based system that gives you an individual score (out of maximum 1200 CRS score) in the pool of candidates.

Any person who submits a profile to the Express Entry pool of candidates is awarded a CRS score out of 1200 points. Almost every two weeks, the Immigration Canada conducts an Express Entry draw, where they issue a round of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence to the highest-ranking candidates.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score Calculator

Comprehensive Ranking System Points Breakdown

The Comprehensive Ranking System ranks eligible candidates for immigration to Canada through Express Entry under the following components:

core human capital factors;

skill transferability factors; and

additional factors relating to a provincial nomination, a qualifying offer of arranged employment, Canadian study experience, a sibling in Canada, and/or French language ability.

There is a total of 1,200 points available under the Comprehensive Ranking System.

Total CRS score (max 1200) = Core Points (max 600) + Additional Points (max 600)

COMPREHENSIVE RANKING SYSTEM (CRS) BREAKDOWN

For candidates without an accompanying spouse or common-law partner, there are:

a maximum of 500 points available for core human capital factors;

a maximum of 100 points available for skill transferability factors; and

With a valid job offer Maximum 200 points; and

600 points available for additional factors (including a provincial nomination, an offer of arranged employment, Canadian study experience, a sibling in Canada, and/or French language ability).

For candidates with an accompanying spouse or common-law partner, there are:

a maximum of 460 points available for core human capital factors of the principal applicant;

a maximum of 40 points for the core human capital factors of the spouse or common-law partner;

a maximum of 100 points available for skill transferability factors;

With a valid job offer Maximum 200 points; and

600 points available for additional factors (including a provincial nomination, an offer of arranged employment, Canadian study experience, a sibling in Canada, and/or French language ability)

COMPREHENSIVE RANKING SYSTEM Understanding Comprehensive Ranking System Canada’s Express Entry immigration selection system uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank and select individuals […]
