{"id":2605,"date":"2024-06-07T18:41:49","date_gmt":"2024-06-07T18:41:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newcanimm.com\/newcan\/?page_id=2605"},"modified":"2024-06-13T17:06:15","modified_gmt":"2024-06-13T17:06:15","slug":"temporary-resident-permit","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/newcanimm.com\/index.php\/temporary-resident-permit\/","title":{"rendered":"Temporary Resident Permit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TRP \u2013 ALLOWS AN INDIVIDUAL TO OVERCOME THEIR INADMISSIBILITY&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>TRP is a document issued by Immigration Canada that allows people who are inadmissible to Canada to visit the country. These are not to be confused with TRV. One may be a status document while the opposite may be a Travel Document. The Temporary Resident Permit, a travel document, will allow you to visit and enter Canada despite your&nbsp;<strong>inadmissibility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A TRP allows an individual to overcome their inadmissibility for a specified reason. The applicant is required to demonstrate there is a major reason they need to enter Canada. A person who is criminally inadmissible to Canada is inadmissible for work, study, visitation purposes, and is prohibited from submitting an application for Canadian permanent residence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility for a Temporary Resident Permit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>TRPs allow officers to respond to exceptional circumstances while meeting Canada\u2019s social, humanitarian, and economic commitments. The decision on whether or not to issue a TRP is at the full discretion officer and will take into the following factors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Inadmissible and seeking to come into Canada if an officer is of the opinion that it is justified in the circumstances;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Canada and is inadmissible, subject to a report or reportable for violation of the Act, or does not otherwise meet the requirements of the Act;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not eligible for restoration of status.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful TRP applicants will usually be people who can prove that they are doing not pose a risk to Canada and that they will not burden Canada\u2019s welfare system. Any evidence that can help prove these two qualities will increase a person\u2019s chances of success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Validity of a Temporary Resident Permit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A TRP may be valid for a period of between one day and three years. When deciding how long the validity period of a TRP will be, authorities will consider the following factors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The length of the person\u2019s visit to Canada.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whether there is a compelling need for the TRP to be issued.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whether there are risks involved in issuing the TRP and, if so, whether the compelling need outweighs these risks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the person is applying for a second TRP, whether any new admissibility issues have arisen since the issuing of the first TRP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In cases where a TRP holder has also been issued a work permit or a study permit, the TRP will have a validity period equal to the validity period of the other permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Temporary Resident Permit Application Process<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply for a TRP, you must submit your application with all the necessary documents and the non-refundable application fee.
